This week's thematic Photographic theme is pretty much wide open, meaning we'll probably see all kinds of subjects. Watch this space! (And could somebody please tell Maureen McGovern to get out of my head with that song from The Poseidon Adventure?)

I love the broad range of subjects you've covered here.

The flare at the mill just makes the image...almost like a signature.

Kat's photo has a softness to it that's virtually a textbook guide to great portrait photography.

And the dogs should be on a promotional poster. What an amazing motion capture.

Ooh, I can already see it's going to be a great week with this theme. Thanks for getting it off to such a strong start!

I was going to say I just loved the light around the steel mill, but of course I now know that I love the Flare.

Ps-- how you get such a fancy theme button? Enquiring minds want to know

@char: Well ya know darlin' we all gotta have something to hang out hats on. and since I don't have your legs... *grin*

@carmi: Kat's one of those (rare) people who seems to be completely unaffected by the presence of the camera. Which is why a shot taken during a show can look like a portrait. I'll claim my share of the credit, but most of it belongs to her. I know very, very few people who are so easy to photograph.

@me: I steal only the very finest theme buttons. I shamelessly pilfered the ones on this blog from Smarmoofus who's an incredibly good sport about the whole thing. I think she secretly digs me. (Shh. Don't tell anybody.) Usually I'd make my own, but Smoofus was so generous with hers I didn't see the need.

I just LOVE monochromatic B & W photos. The Light & shade effect is always so good in those.

This is one of mine, a favorite B& W portraits.

Kat's Portrait is so wonderful!I loke the soft focus!

Also the last one is awesome!

@Mona: I can certainly see why you love that portrait! You have kind of a Gul Palag look going on there.
