Thematic Photographic 11: Poignant v.4.0

This photo is unique in that it came from the only wedding I have ever shot. It's not that I haven't been asked, mind you. But I make it a policy to only shoot weddings if (a) I know the couple, and (b) I know the couple well enough to give them a wedding gift, and (c) they don't mind getting their photography as said gift. And if that sounds like I'm cheaping out, go get a quote from a professional wedding photographer. Sure it didn't cost me anything but the price of the film, but it saved these guys about $700.

I saw this opening in the top of the fence as soon as I arrived at the temple, and I'd composed this shot before the wedding even started. It was just one of those moments. The title came from the part of the shot that's cropped out. You can't see the cluster of people standing to the left of the couple, just out of range. That is a wonderful photo. And I have to say something I haven't said before: I love the title of your blog! I smile every time I see it on my blog list.

@mamie: Why thank you ma'am! Come on down to Moore Square on Saturday and you can see it on a t-shirt!

Wish I could - I've got to go to Greensboro to be with my dad this weekend. We live in the same neighborhood, I think, judging from some of your posts, so we'll have to meet some time soon.

If I get back in time, I'll had downtown.

Its a lovely photo :)

Thanks for hopping over to my site, its a Dianthus in the centre. Well that's what the label said anyways.

@mamie: Too bad you can't bring dad with ya! We might live in the same general area, we probably work in the same general area. You don't work at the old Agriculture building on W. Jones St. do you? I've gotten hits from there occasionally.

Wow, that is a beautiful shot. I don't think it's "cheap" at all! What you gave them was priceless, actually.

@quill: It's one of their favorites and mine too. There's a whole series of shots "framed" like this (about a half dozen) but this was my favorite of them.
@tiff: I prefer stuff like this to formal potraiture. I think this style results in much more interesting photos. that said there are certain "required" shots when you're doing a wedding.
@claire: Well at least I know what to look for in the plant department. I wouldn't know a Dianthus from a hole in the ground, but it sure is pretty.
@allison: I like to think of it as giving them something that not just everybody could give them. And it doesn't hurt that they saved several hundred dollars in the deal too. A young couple just out of the gate needs all the help they can get.
And...
@Suzie and anybody I missed:, thanks for stopping by and the love feeds are always appreciated!

That's a wonderful photograph. Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment at my place today. I'll be back when I have more time to wander around your place.
Since I have to use my old blogger address, I'll leave this one just as a reminder so you can come back again sometime.
