Since this combination worked so well yesterday, I thought I'd try it again. Once again we have a shot from Wrightsville Beach and a shot from the greenway. North Carolina's coastline is made up of several barrier islands. Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island are probably the best known to the world at large, but all of our major beaches are offshore. The town of Wrightsville Beach borders a stretch of the Intracoastal Waterway, and with that much sheltered water, it's a natural site for marinas. This one was just down the block from the hotel I stayed in, but this shot could have come from virtually anywhere along Lumina Ave (the main "backbone" road on the island). The island is small enough that it didn't get a name of its own (that I know of). The island the town and the beach itself are all simply referred to as Wrightsville Beach. The second shot is my anonymous creek along the greenway again, same day as the last shot, but I'm guessing a bit earlier in the evening. There was some seriously good light that evening apparently -- though it's been far too long since I took this shot to remember very much else about it.

Thanks for visiting my blog and checking out my "watery" photo, and for your very kind and encouraging comment! I love this picture, the water looks very golden in that evening light.

The Intracoastal shot brought me right back to childhood visits to my aunt and uncle in Long Island, NY. There's a quality of light and texture to these little places that exist off the water that seems to transcend geography. Wherever they are along the coast, they all seem to have that same amazing vibe.

Your pic captured it so completely.
