Thematic Photographic 19: "Grounded" v.1.0
This week's Thematic Photographic prompt is "Grounded", which can take many meanings. Being a former helicopter mechanic, the first thing that comes to my mind is a grounded aircraft. I caught this shot on a Saturday afternoon at a small grass-strip airfield called the Triple W Airport in Fuquay. You might be able to see the word "Experimental" stenciled on the window of this plane. I don't know what the experiment was though, and there was nobody around to ask. So I never found out if the experiment was the reason the plane was grounded.

I really like this crop/perspective, its more interesting than a full nose to tail shot IMO for what that's worth

mojo, i really like the density of the b&w shot. a bit on the heavy side, which goes with 'grounded'.
i want you to go back and find out what 'experimental' meant! for your readers.
it's gonna bug me!
cheers,
gord h.
Do see Experimental. Interesting. Glad it made it in for a safe landing even if it was only to be grounded!
Xcllnt capture! B/W are the best!
I'm pretty sure that "experimental" is the very last thing that I would want to see stenciled on my airplane!
Cool shot!
Nicely done in black and white. I agree with gord h. The plane looks heavy and very prominent in this photo. "Grounded" indeed.
A great choice for this week's theme ... I like this shot and perspective :)
Nice shot and the black and white works well for the grounded theme.
Would love to know the story here....great shot though!
Very cool... reminds me of the time my Dad took me to the marine base and put me on a helicopter that was in a hanger. I was maybe 5 yrs old... I'm in the copter and a big buzzing noise goes off in the hanger. What is that Dad? It means the helicopter is about to take off - he says!!!! I FREAKED OUT - Tears streaming. He thought it funny. I didn't then, but looking back ~ it was quite funny now!
