Monochrome Monday #6: Under the Pier

"Under the Pier"
Atlantic Beach, NC - October 2008 (Click to embiggen)

This week I'm going to take you all on a tour of one of my very favorite places in the world -- North Carolina's Crystal Coast. (I didn't name it, gimme a break okay?) The region is also referred to as the Southern Outer Banks, though these "banks" aren't nearly as "outer" as their cousins to the north. On the mainland side, you'll find Morehead City and Beaufort. On the island side, we'll look at Emerald Isle (the island, not the town) and specifically at Atlantic Beach, which is the first place you come to after crossing the Causeway Bridge from Morehead City.

I love this type of shot. Old bridges are especially fun for me to shoot in black and white.

I'm posting a bridge photo today for my first MM post. I took a series of these about three weeks back on a day with light so good, one couldn't help but take a good picture or two.

I love the way you shot this.

What an interesting angle to present that bridge. You get the eye of the photographer, the idea that makes the difference.
B&W is perfect for wooden building.
See you for Ruby Tomorrow.

What a great shot. And you're right --there's never a bad time for a visit to the beach. Some of my favorite walks have been in the winter with the surf pounding and no one else around. Thank you for leaving your thoughts on my blog. I have an update in regards to Sandra Cormier, whose nephew's body was found.
