That's My World Tuesday #5: Velvet Cloak Inn

"Velvet Cloak"
Raleigh, NC - August 2008 (Click to embiggen)

The Velvet Cloak Inn on Hillsboro Street is one of those places that's best described as "iconic". It has been in the same place for longer than I can remember (which, believe me, is quite a long while) and isn't showing any signs of going away anytime soon.

Other hotels have come and gone, more still probably will come and go, and the stately old lady on Hillsboro Street will probably outlast them all.

The Velvet Cloak - has such a romantic sound to it. Beautiful shot in the 'cloak' of night! :)

It sounds so mysterious. Just the mane alone conjours up such wonderful images.

I love the name - it's sounds so mysterious for some reason.

Thank goodness you have something in your town that is not here to-day and gone to-morrow. In my lifetime even the big iconic stores that have been in the family for generations have fallen to greed and economic rationalism.
Good for you!
