Blue Monday #14: Are You a Natural Blue?
I really don't think this fish is actually this color. More likely the color came from the lighting in the tank, though why I have no idea. This is one of the displays at the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and I suppose the tank is lit this way because the residents are accustomed to very little light. But I have no empirical evidence to support that theory. Any marine biologists want to weigh in on this one?

He's beautiful, no matter how he got that way. I have seen tropical fish in aquariums that are that color.
I'm not a marine biologist, but I do know that they try to recreate a habitat that is as natural as possible. So, the lighting is definitely the way it is to try to attempt that. Nice shot through the glass, Mojo. It is really challenging to get good photographs at an aquarium because of reflections, lighting issues, etc.
I have seen brilliant blue fish, so perhaps that is his color. Notice how we all make the fish a male? Happy Blue Monday!
Tropical fish, like tropical flowers, are often brilliantly colored. I love the yellow ones, too, that are very intense. And I really love that blue fish. He's gorgeous!
Happy Blue Monday...
