Sepia Scenes - Brought to you by Mary the Teach
In case you missed it: Check out my entry in Nicole B's Scavenger Hunt!

Around Flat Top Manor and the Carriage house are a number of retaining walls built -- like many things in the area -- of native stone. With a layer of surprise snow it made a compelling photograph.Violence Unsilenced

Good choice. The angle of the wall reminds me of the Rock of Gibraltar.

The sepia toning has given this such an other worldly feel; that's just me :)

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Definitely very compelling. It's got a real Little House on the Prairie feel to it.

Love these old stone walls! Sepia is a perfect choice for this photo I think. The snow dusts the top like frosting on a cake!

I don't know why it evoked feelings for me of soldiers and winter - we each see what we see I guess.
The sepia does make it moody. :)

I like this a lot...and Carletta has got soldiers in my mind now! I doubt if I would have thought that if I hadn't seen her comment.

Stones laid in these walls without mortar is timeless. Forgive us who feel as if we are in the 1800s as we study this picture - fabulous!

How beautiful. I like how the stones are laid and stacked. Great shot, it feels like a whole different time.

These walls made from stones are pretty uncommon here in Singapore. But while I was in Korea, I saw them everywhere just like the one in your picture..covered in snow while I was freezing to death!! :P

Very nicely built rock wall! The snow adds that little extra pizzazz to an already beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing.

to me this is a taste of things to come, minus the snow though... mmmm, i'm ready for hibernation.

I'm going to assume this is YOUR carriage house. ;-) Mighty spiffy in sepia.
