Monochrome Monday #30: He's Not Here

"He's not Here"
Oswego, NY - June 2006 (Click to embiggen)

If you've followed my entries on , you may be having a sense of deja vu here. Yes, some of these photos have appeared there, and yes I've recycled the titles even. This is in Oswego, NY on the shores of Lake Ontario and was not a scheduled stop on the Great College Road Trip of 2005. But is is only a minor detour on the way to SUNY Potsdam, home of the Crane School of Music, where my son spent his first 21/2 years of college. It's also the birthplace of Erik Cole, former* star winger and fan favorite of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes. The trip up to Postdam for freshman orientation was only a month removed form the Canes winning the Stanley Cup, so we stopped off in Oswego to see if they'd painted the town red (and white and black). they hadn't, but there were some cool photos to be had anyway.

*Cole was reacquired by the Hurricanes at this year's trade deadline, which will tell you a little bit about how far in advance I schedule some of these posts

I think I may have had a beer there during one particularly fuzzy weekend visiting friends at Oneonta.

PS Listening to the NYR live. Started listening at 1-1, early in the first. Period is now over and they're down 3-1. Aargh.

(Obviously much earlier than 2005)

PS Streaming radio just croaked, but at 5-1 I don't think it matters. I'm giving up in disgust and heading up to bed.

I don't suppose they serve very good wine here. ;-)

OK, it is you, Carver, and us as the NC faction, yet again!!!! Brew signs have a sort of international appeal, in black and white or color!!!

Cool shot! And a beer wouldn't be bad right now, either!

One of the reasons I left WIB&W was the recycling thing after I started Mono.
I didn't like the presentation either but that has improved greatly.
I was just telling Babooshka that I can, at last, start building a new flim archive with the 35mm cameras I now have, I am very tempted to start printing again, enlarger and all.
