Sepia Scenes - Brought to you by Mary the Teach

No, this isn't my ride. It's been ... a lot of years since my butt was last in a saddle, and it's never been in an English saddle at all. That I leave to the folks that know what they're doing.Violence UnSilenced

Never been in an English saddle but the photo is wonderful. I love that particular sepia tone! The play of shadows is eye-catching! :)

LOVE this picture Jazz. It brings back wonderful memories for me. My daughter rode English for years. Alas, she grew up and riding didn't continue after a while.

I must confess to preferring a Western saddle when I rode which was in the last century! lol I like this photo - the sepia really works well with the leather I think.

Lovely warm sepia tones. And I love the subject too. Never had much luck with riding horses, they seem to know that they are much smarter than me and take advantage of my stupidity ;-)

Beautiful, rich tones. Really evokes the feelings of mystery and respect for the saddle and horse.

So many beautiful contrasts in this picture.
The rugged horseback against the well polished leather saddle.
The light shining on the under cover contra the shadowy curves of the knee support.
I like the cropping enhancing the essentials as well.

Mmmm, that's a very enjoyable seat from where I come from! This past weekend, I was in the bush (in the middle of lovely nowhere!) visiting a friend. She had a horse, and I borrowed the horse of the village chief. The mare was beautiful, but the saddle was... uhm... very hard, with super short uneaven stirrups. No wonder I have muscle ache today!!

I find this photo very artistic. Never been on a horse not even on the carousel, at least I think I haven't.

I LOVE hoses, but not to ride them. I enjoy them for their graceful beauty, gentle natures and kind-looking eyes.

Nice shot!

A classic hand-tooled leather saddle. It is a work of art, even if you aren't riding a famous steed like Silver or Trigger. Of course, if you wanted a smooth ride on the trail, you couldn't expect it to bee too smooth on the equine - no suspension to soak up the bumps...

Excellent subject for Sepia Scenes - It looks really good, too!

The saddle looks great in sepia! No way would I even get on a horse. I did once many years ago and thought I'd die before I got off. lol

English/Western saddles.. I don't know the difference I must say.
This looks good in sepia, especially with the horse naturally sepia, I meant brown. :)
I remember the first time I rode a horse, somehow my legs were in touch with it, sure felt ticklish! From then, I always wore long pants!

Beautiful detail and light.
I never really did ride, let alone in an English saddle.

The sepia works well with the leather saddle, and the horse, of course ;-)

I especially love your use of shadow and light here. Great photo!

I grew up riding, and I rode English and Western both. I prefer English. I just love the way the saddles look.

♥ that this one is in sepia.... so fitting.

I enjoy the way you present the image. It leaves us wondering what sits beyond the saddle, beyond the horse itself. Is the trip just beginning or has it come to an end. Perfect!

I had no idea there was a difference between and English saddle and an American one...who would've thought! :)
