Thematic Photographic 45: "Floral" v.1.0

"Daffy"
Raleigh, NC - April 2009 (Click to embiggen)

This week's theme, "Floral" cuts two ways for me. I have several shots of flowers -- that's not the problem. Problem is I'm what you might call "botanically challenged", so I rarely know what any of the flowers in my photos are. Guess I won't be saying much this week. Except I think these are some variety of daffodil. But what do I know?Violence UnSilenced

Yes - Daffodils! They are sure to come during spring, but we are still waiting for them in Oslo!

So Funny (botanically challenged)! Between the two of us we can cover pretty much everything!
I do like the daffy's though, don't know the variety but they look like the little mini's.

Very pretty - I have one like it in bloom in my front yard now.

They are members of the narcissus family (i.e., daffodils) but they are the ones that grow easier in Southern climates, called narcissus or sometimes jonquil.

I love these flowers and I always say to myself "You must plant some of these this year"..and then I don't! :P Ok, so shoot me I'm not a green thumb! More like aqua thumb...

We share a very familiar pain. I'll be darned if I can identify anything that grows from the ground. But I figure as long as it looks pretty in the viewfinder, it's all good.

And this...is very pretty. It relaxes me to no end to see a capture like this. I stare into a screen most of the day, so an artfully captured floral scene reaffirms that there's true beauty in this world.

Our daffodils are starting to fade, but the tulips are gearing up for blooming!

They are white daffodils with orange centers, Mojo. White daffodils have yellow centers too. And then of course there are completely yellow daffs...:)

Those have the narcissus effect (very short center)
I wonder sometimes if they are a hybrid.

Call 'em a spring bulb and you can't go wrong. (:

They're defintely a daff, though I'm not sure what breed.

Lovely photos. I'm a fan of daffodils are they're our national flower :)
