Ruby Tuesday #39: "Snowbird"

"Inauguration Day"
Raleigh, NC - January 2009 (Click to embiggen)

Ruby Tuesday - Are you red-dy? Hosted at

This shot came from our quadrennial snowstorm on Inauguration Day. This garden pick has seen better days, and doesn't quite sit up straight which made it collect an interesting load of snow.Violence UnSilenced

You are so productive Mojo - hard to keep up with you! :) Love this image - reminds med of home during winther! Or spring.....

Thanks for stopping by! By the way; the red flower you wondered about, is in fact a tulip! It had fallen to the ground, hiding in the leaves!

I enjoy looking at snow now that we have none. Actually, I even enjoy shoveling snow, but don't tell the winter haters.

At first I thought that was real, but it's made out of wood?

Happy Ruby Tuesday.

Beautiful picture. Lots of light, depth and interesting curves. I'd say the beautiful bird needs some welding though.
It's stooping over, poor thing.

I've spent two interesting dinners being introduced to the art of welding..thanks to your photo two weeks ago.
In the end I suggested it must be a more advanced art of solder (I know, led is the thing with soldering). My dad showed me how to do that a lifetime ago.

Hopefully the cardinal is in upright position by now!

A male Cardinal is ever the classic, a great looking bird. The snow on his 'back' just accentuates the crimson feathers. A pairing of red and white is the perfect memento of the rare Raleigh frozen precip!

The red among the whites make a nice color combination of a photograph :)

Beautiful. I love the cardinal's deep red against the stark white of the snow. Very arresting looking.

Cardinals always make me smile. He don't have any around here so it is always fun to see them in pictures. Love this one, Jazz.

At first glance, I thought it was real.. poor cardinal. Glad to know it is just a pick. I do love the red surrounded by all that white snow! We just got back from a luncheon and the pesky raccoon is back. That is twice in one week, this time in the yard... on the birdfeeder... yes the feeder with the raccoon and squirrel baffle. As expected, that didn't work. I may have to call the wildlife people.

Oh, he's all bent over with the weight of the snow, or the world.
A belated happy RT! :))
