Ruby Tuesday #44: "Global Village"

"Global Village Coffee"
Raleigh, NC - February 2009 (Click to embiggen)

Ruby Tuesday - Are you red-dy? Hosted at

All organic, all fair-trade that's Global Village Coffee's claim to fame. This indie shop right across the street from NC State University is decidedly more popular right around the middle and end of every semester.Violence UnSilenced

All coffee shops seem to be popular in America :)

I love this photo! I come from the country with the highest number of coffee shops per capita - NZ! We have boutique roasteries all around our capital, Wellington. It's a great place to be. Thanks for your contribution to Ruby Tuesday!

Some things are universal Like students and coffee houses. We lost all ours until Friends aired in the UK and we suddenly had a coffee house revival.

Nice pic of fair-trade coffe shop! We have some fair-trade products in Finland in shops too.

That popularity of this place at those times might increase due to the incidence of midterm and final exams!

However, at times the non chains often have an honest coffee product, and stout tasting. Too often the clerks at Dunkin just overdo it on the light cream - places like this get it right or they will offer to redo the order. The service shines...

Cool place - reminds me of the set of Friends - don't think we can find Jeniffer Aniston there though :) I never noticed it - probably drove there many times through there. Good eye - to spot a nice scene like that.

I love your blog, very engaging.

And why am I not surprised that the 'Coffee House' is busier around the middle and end of semesters? LOL I recall when we would cram into those places and discuss assignments, dissertation projects and the like with other fully cafeinated co-students .... ha!

Thank you for sharing this charming picture.
