Thematic Photographic 52: "Dusk" v.4.0

"Vespers"
Raleigh, NC - May, 2009 (Click to embiggen)

Thematic Photographic hosted by Carmi - Button Image by Smarmoofus Hosted by Written Inc.

Christ Church Episcopal made its debut on Why? What Have You Heard? in the June 3rd edition of The Doors an "accidental" meme hosted by David McMahon at . This shot isn't of the door obviously, but it was taken right at dusk, and the light gave it an ethereal, almost sepulchral feeling. Christ Church is Raleigh's oldest Episcopal church, so I suppose that's fitting.Violence UnSilenced

This church gives me a creepy feeling or is it just me... again?

Churches can be crypt-ic places. Especially those Episcopal ones with their memorial plaques. Mine actually buries dead, cremated parishioners in its walls. (It's a fundraiser, of course.) What can we say? It's hard to let go....

I like the timelessness of this shot.

Little spooky at night. One of the best thing about America is the you can see this style of buildings in fresh condition. In old country - that kind of stony structures are usualy bunch of ruins

I like this. The dark greens, the cold stones, the lit streetlight, and the blackness in the door create a nice early evening scene that could be from any number of decades.

PS - No HDR in the scenic sunday....I only (raw) edited the white balance a bit to give it a cooler feeling and make the greens a bit more green. Nothing else! It was just that beautiful. Minus the smell.

You capture the spirit of a place in ways that defy words. I can feel this scene through the screen.

Some may see creepy or eerie when looking at this photograph, but I see comfort... the coolness of greens and stones that may or may not have retained heat from the day's sun... a welcoming lamp at the arched entry...
