Thematic Photographic 53: "Road" v.3.0

"Photography Blind"
Raleigh, NC - May, 2009 (Click to embiggen)

Thematic Photographic hosted by Carmi - Button Image by Smarmoofus Hosted by Written Inc.

Six blocks west of the cluster of skyscrapers you saw in yesterday's Thematic Photographic is one of my favorite perches for shooting the city core. This is the Boylan Avenue Bridge which offers a broadside view of the west side of the "downtown backbone". You've seen several shots take from the bridge here, but if you saw any of the bridge itself in any of them, it was an accidentally included section of the guard rail. So in the interest of "remembering the little people... er... streets", here's the bridge itself which spans the railroad tracks (also featured here several times) upon which runs the mighty Amtrak ... er... train (it has an actual name -- and it's a cool name too -- but I can't dredge it up from memory at the moment.)

I love how you've captures the curve and the context of a structure that I'm willing to bet most people cross without a second thought.

Funny how the photographer's perch rarely gets photographed. Nice turnaround!

A pretty neat "perch". I too love that curve. I love bridges anyway - almost all kinds of bridges.
