Great shot. Somehow, it reminds me more of a hospital corridor than a hotel.

This shot makes me want to know more.
Like a beginning of a novel, a good one :)

For me, I hear the story behind this photo, the story of the woman behind the broom. I am a teacher and I stay late. I speak Spanish and I have gotten to know the people who have taken care of me and my classroom. I hate the word janitor because it seems so demeaning...it should not, but in our world it's a job often looked down upon.

However, MariaMagda was anything but someone to be dismissed and ignored because she was "just a janitor." This incredible woman had a degree in business and had worked for the Colombian government. After having the drug cartel threaten to kidnap and kill her daughter for the work she did with foreign governmental vistors, she decided to leave her entire life behind her, just to have a new start in the land of promise.

MariaMagda was kind, humourous and very intelligent. She was willing to take this job so that her daughther and her future grand children could have a safe and properous life.

I see this image and I am infused with the sense of integrity that MariaMagda brought to her job.

Funny how a simple picture can evoke such strong emotions in a person. Even if you, the photographer, did not anticipate it.

So interesting!

And yes, those "Swifer" people have ruined me for life with that "Who's that lady?" routine. ;)
