The Doors #1: "New Year's Gentrification"

"Rooms With A View"

I'm guessing that David didn't intend to turn this into a meme, and really it's not. But there is a certain fascination about doors. What lies beyond this one? Condos I believe. This is one of those warehouse district buildings that's been rehabilitated and turned into overpriced residential property about six blocks from downtown Raleigh.

It's not the city's most appealing neighborhood, but it does offer a commanding view of the "downtown backbone". And the upper floors of this building probably have the best view of all. I took this shot on New Year's Eve right after snapping a series of shots of the fireworks over downtown from a perch just across the street. I don't know what the inside of these look like, but the entryway is pretty impressive.Violence Unsilenced

Beautiful entrance!

I always wanted a double door like French doors in my house, don't have it though!

A tip: Don't log on to FH when you are hungry or around lunch time or at work in the morning ever! Lot of people have cursed me before!! :D

They are impressive, the building almost looks like it could be a converted church!

I don't know where that is - but it is gorgeous!! I love Gothic architecture and nods to it, like those arched windows.

Those are magnificent doors! I can imagine myself living there like a queen!

Mate, that looks for all the world like an entrance to a church or cathedral.

You've got me fascinated. The light is great and you've done well with the exposure. It's an intriguing shot -- and that is EXACTLY what ``The Doors'' theme is all about.

Well done ... and I look forward to more of your doors.

Doors make very interesting photos, these ones are really unusual. A bit Gothic and hmmmm, I don't know what!
Yeah, they make me think of a kings crown. :)

Doors are great to photograph. I've only taken one that I really liked and it's used as my blog header. The others just looked like...well...doors.

It's nice to dream about living in a very different environment. That doesn't look too shabby to me!

So neat, Mojo! I wonder if the frieze on that portico echoes something similar on the top of the building. I'm an architectural nut. ;-)

Love the doors!

What a grand piece of architecture! I love it, but then again...I love all of your photos that you take of the old homes and places around your hometown. They have such grace and beauty about them. Thanks for sharing. :-)
