Thematic Photographic 60: "Laundry" v.2.0 - "Still a Classic"
You had to know I couldn't go through a week without getting all allegorical, right? Consider now the Clorox, the bleach that's been around so long that its name has almost become generic. Sure, there are other bleaches. And sure, the Clorox people have added fragrances, developed new variants, redesigned packaging, probably refined the formula a time or two. But some things just have staying power. Even when their primary purpose is to overcome the staying power of other things. It just proves that a good idea is still a good idea no matter how old it gets.

Thematic Photographic 60: "Laundry" v.1.0 - "Spin Cycle"
When I read that this week's Thematic Photographic theme was "Laundry" my first reaction was, "Laundry? Laundry?? WTF??" I thought of many creative compositional possibilities, none of which will I have time to find and execute for the next few days, so hopefully my humble laundry facilities will suffice until the weekend. Since I'll be helping my son move into his new apartment at school, chances are better than average that some kind of laundry-themed scene will present itself. I mean, we are talking about college styudents here.Oh wait... that's right, they bring all their laundry home.Curses. Foiled again.

Sepia Scenes #41: Blake Street, City Market
Blake Street is barely a street at all. It's not much wider than an alley, and scarcely half a block long. But on any given night of the week it's alive with people patronizing its various restaurants and pubs. An amazing number of these have been packed into City Market, and quite a number of those have a Blake Street address.
On the inside of this brick wall is the original City Market which opened in October of 1914 and served as a general farmer's market until the 1950's The opening of the new Farmer's Market in 1957 along with the advent of supermarkets, pretty well put paid to the old market and in 1959 it was sold to a private concern who leased it to a furniture store. In 1980 the City Council and the State Division of Archives and History secured a listing for the market in the National Register of Historic Places. But some things never change. Only moments after I took this shot, the fellow you see in the background hit me up for some spare change.
