News from the American Red Cross Blood Services

As a regular blood donor I get notified about blood drives and other such things. And any time there's a holiday, there's a spike in the need for blood (because people are stupid and get hurt and they do more of this during the holidays). Anyway, rather than try to hit the high points, I'm just gonna let you read the email as I got it.

Dear loyal American Red Cross blood donor,

July is going to be ENORMOUSLY HUGE at the North Raleigh Blood Center. If you are eligible to donate, we need you to come in right away! If you have donated in the past 56 days and are not eligible to donate, thank you for your donation. You can continue to help by sharing this information with friends and family. We look forward to seeing you again when you are eligible.

Please join us at the North Raleigh Blood Donation Center in July 2008 for these wonderful give-aways and drawings. Do you want to know a good day to come in and donate? We currently have very few people on the schedule for July 1 -- July 6 and we could certainly use your help in collecting more units of blood, for the patients in need! There should be little to no wait if you come in to donate on any of these days.

Camp Save-a-Life, July 1-15

The American Red Cross is partnering with Dick’s Sporting Goods to promote this summertime event. All presenting donors at the blood center can enter a drawing for one $100 gift card and one $50 gift card from Dick’s. There are also Dick’s coupons, up to 20% off, just waiting to be used by you.
During Camp Save-a-Life the American Red Cross has give-away’s going on:

• July 1 - 15 Receive an American Red Cross Camp Save-a-Life t-shirt.
• July 1 - 8 Receive a coupon for a free appetizer from UNO Chicago Grill.
• July 1st - Get a VIP pass for the July 14th Vans Warped Tour concert in Charlotte and enter to win 2 free tickets to the concert. There’s also the Music Saves Lives card to download free music! As an added bonus, Chipotle has graciously donated Chipotle Bucks redeemable for delicious treats. Enjoy UNO Chicago Grill pizza in the canteen.
• July 3rd - Get into gear with an American Red Cross carabiner.
• July 5th - Be prepared with an American Red Cross first aid kit.
• July 6th - Go anywhere with an American Red Cross knapsack.
• July 8th - Be the coolest with your American Red Cross Blood Drop Lifeguard Beanie. Enjoy pizza from Wildflour Boston Pizza in the canteen.
• July 10th - Come in and cool off. Celebrate the winter holidays early with an American Red Cross snowflake ornament.

Present to donate blood or platelets in the month of July and enter our drawing for one of three $1000 Gas Cards.

More exciting news for you! We are expanding our hours to serve you better and to make it more convenient for you to donate. As of Tuesday, July 1, 2008, the North Raleigh center will also be opened on Tuesdays. Below are the new hours for the North Raleigh center.

North Raleigh Blood Donation Center

• Monday 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm
• Tuesdays 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm
• Thursday 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm
• Friday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
• 1st and 3rd Saturday 7:30 am - 1:30 pm

We will be opened at the North Raleigh some extra days in July. Come in and take advantage of these extra hours!

• Wednesday, July 2, 8 am - 12:30 pm
• Sunday, July 6, noon - 4:30 pm
• Wednesday, July 9, 8 am - 12:30 pm
• Saturday, July 12, 7:30 am - 12:00 pm

Please bring a friend, co-worker, neighbor, family member or other associate to donate with you. Also, feel free to pass this information and need along to others who might be interested in helping and entering to win a great prize! They can come in at a time that is convenient for them!
