the Arte y Pico
But with great honor comes great responsibility, right? And so it is with the Arte y Pico. to wit:
1) You must pick 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award, based upon creativity, design, interesting material, and that also contribute to the blogger community.
2) Each award must have the name of the author with a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Award-winners must show the award and put the name and link to the blog that awarded it.
4) Award-winners and the one who has given the prize must show the link to the Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5) These rules must be included in your post.
Okay, Number 5 is easy enough to understand...
The catch here is I have to figure out 5 (and only 5) blogs upon which to confer this award. Finding five people of incredible talent in the blogosphere isn't hard. Finding five people of incredible talent that (a) I have read/seen/heard enough of to make an informed choice and (b) haven't already been tagged by someone else and (c) *ahem* will receive the award in the spirit it was intended
is tres hard. So I figured I'd better get right on it. So in no particular order, my inductees are:
- Lara at Life: The Ongoing Education: For her sometimes amusing, always thought provoking essays on life in general, and for the inspiration and courage she brings to those who visit her. But Lara is a double threat. Her other blog Life: The Illustrated Education provides a unique illustrated persepctive that's always appealing, both visually and emotionally.
- Snowelf at Just Another Ironic Coincidence (serendipity at its finest): Snowelf needs no introduction to anyone who's familiar with 55 Flash Fiction Friday. (I mean we're talking about Snowelf here!) Her supremacy in the nanofiction genre is unchallenged.
- G-Man at Mr. KnowItAll: Without G-Man (or Galen as some of us know him) 55 Flash Fiction Friday would be a niche meme participated in by only a few. G-Man brought it to the masses, and his own contributions are always worth a read.
- Mona at The Two Bits: Few bloggers write with such remarkable flair for imagery as Mona. And she brings a colorful cultural diversity to my everyday reading as well.
- JC at What can't be looked for: Last but not least, I can't leave out my oldest blogfriend JC. Her writing has made me laugh, cry, and at times cringe. Through her I've heard stories of triumph, of wonder, of pain and of great joy. I know of only a very few bloggers who can turn an event so ordinary as a shopping trip into an engaging tale of adventure (and comedy). And she's one of the most compassionate souls I know.

*generous applause* A lovely speech, and excellent choices, Mojo! Now if only I could narrow my choices down to 5 (and only 5!) people who haven't already received this award. Oh, the pressure...
-The Academy... er, smarmoofus!
Well Smoofus, you know you'd have been at the top of my list had you not already been inducted. (erm... you do know that right?) But apparently I'm not the only one who recognizes great artistic talent.
I had hoped... *doubt edging into her voice*... maybe, perhaps, you... uh... would have, you know, at least considered me. Maybe.
*shuffles*
