Ruby Tuesday #23: Red Velvet
You've seen these flowers before -- or possibly their neighbors. They grow in planters outside one of Raleigh's older hotels, the Velvet Cloak Inn on Hillsborough Street. I don't have a special reason for featuring them this week other than they remind me of warmer weather.

Very red! Great choice for RT.
Very red! Great choice for RT.
Those are so pretty and I love them against the green. Happy Ruby to you!!
Pretty flowers! A reminder that spring will be here someday.
Happy Ruby Tuesday ~
They are salvia, in case you want to know. Very pretty and definitely red!
I like the yellow and green behind the red salvia, too. Nice to see a pretty garden when it's cold.
What a nice reminder of warm weather to come. ;-)
Hi,
Red Salvia looks and smells beautifully.
Thanks for the good hope reminder.

Lovely flowers. Such a red, while small, really stand out as a detail that you always remember, no matter where you saw them. My RT post echoes the same warm sentiments...
Those flowers look so pretty! I used to see that plant before, and it really amazed me.
My Ruby Tuesday entries are posted here and here. Happy Tuesday!
Nice red flowers with the green leaves as background! :)
Happy RT.
Pretty flower. But what intrigues me most is the name of the inn - The Velvet Cloak Inn.
They're so bright against the foliage. I think you've got some yellow "flame plants" buried in there as well.

I've never been able to get them to grow for some reason. They just sit there and look red-pretty for about a week....and then die.
Very Vibrant RT!!!
Hi Mojo, we have those flowers in Australia as well. I love the name of that hotel...maybe you would put up a pic of that place sometime. Happy Ruby Tuesday! :)
Eaton.
Good choice for a Ruby Tuesday!
We call them Salvia by the way, my father used to have them in his garden all the time.
I love my red salvia and I just bought 6 pots of purple-coloured ones two weeks ago for my Chinese New Year home decor. :)
What a striking deep red, and yes, they do make me long for warmer weather.
That's exactly what we need at this precise time, you're right.
Red for Joy in a blurry Tuesday.
I don't know their name but it's like the previous vine, is it really important ? Just have to watch them.
red velvet indeed... and now i've got that song in my head, you know the one???? blue velvet????
That is a gorgeous shot. The colors are so vivid. I can't find any such colorful beauty in my neighborhood right now, even in mild Norcal! Soon, though, spring will be here and the flowers will start popping up.
Hi!
Beautiful RED flowers!! I posted flowers with a red background for the same reason as you. Have a great day!!

Lovely flowers...salvia, but we call them Red Hot Sally here in Texas, and they do remind one of much warmer days. Very nice.
