Watery Wednesday #9: Up the Creek

"Rocky Creek"
Blue Ridge Parkway, NC - February 2001 (Click to embiggen)

Watery Wednesday

This creek is situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Lenoir, NC. We passed through this little crossroads community on the way home from a ski trip in February 2001. There isn't much there, but what there was was highly photogenic.

Hola! I recently went to Lake Mead and was happily surprised by the pretty color of the reservoir.

Especially in B/W this is quite a catching image of a wintery landscape in all its isolation. Really like the image and the landscape too.

I've been to the Blue Ridge area before too and it is definitely a very beautiful place to experience.

What an idyllic scene! I could see myself there in summer testing the water with my toes.

Very appealing image. And -- small world -- an old friend of mine retired to Lenoir, NC last year. I wonder if she knows about this creek?

I love the black and white. It was a perfect choice to use it on. In my opinion, it defines the photo. Very nicely done. :-)

love the stark bare trees against the fludity of the creek.

Stark but inviting. Expect it is the small, protected nature of the pond that is so appealing.
