This ... marsh? Swamp? is in the neighborhood where I lived from between the ages of about 3 and 12. As far as I can recall, there was no swamp there at the time, just a creek that ran under the bridge I took this shot from. We used to hang out under that bridge during the summer to escape the heat, so I'm pretty sure if there'd been a swamp right next to it we'd have noticed it.

In any event, it's there now... complete with a variety of waterfowl.

It's not the nicest part of town -- never was -- so I was tempted to insert a punch line here. But marshlands are an important part of the ecosphere and I'm happy to see this one being preserved.

I remember seeing something like that near Raleigh Blvd., some years ago. That's a place you expect to see in Norfolk and the surrounding area, but not here.

Looks like a great place for mischievous little boys to hang out in the summer. You were mishchievous....weren't you?

I would expect no less.

Looks like a great place for mob assassinations (I think it's that Stallone/ Banderas movie that makes me think so).

Thanks again for your services this weekend, the photos are great!

I love the cold, wintery feeling the monochrome gives.

Great shot.

Now, that's an Urban Science Adventure! - suburban style.

Isn't it fascinating how nature can creep in and make itself apart of our lives.

Thanks for sharing this photo and background info.
