So do you know what that lil ball is? I took some close ups of one once but never could figure out if they were a plant formation or a formation by a wasp or bug. Neat shot no matter. :)
The fruit looked like a lime to me, but my trees here in So Cal have lotsa leaves too! I suppose it was some kind of nut though I really have no idea. Loved your Monochrome Monday shot too. Hugs and blessings,
We have a winner here folks. The correct answer was supplied by Camera Totin' Idiot who correctly identified this tree as a walnut. Specifically it is a Black Walnut at least according to everything I've found by way of identification. The good folks at the US Forest Service have a site dedicated to tree identification so I was able to confirm CTI's answer. See for yourself at: http://forestry.about.com/od/hardwoods/ss/walnut.htm

Raleigh only has one tree left? :P
Is it an acorn? It's a great close-up, love how the light is reflecting off it.
Okay, fess up. What kind of tree is it?
That I like! Mystic - what is it? Please tell! :)
Green. I know that color. I saw it last about six months ago. Pleased to see it again!

Spring is on its way. Great shot. Happy WW:)
I am glad you stopped by to observe this tiny creation of nature. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome macro. I love close-up shots. The detail is just so fascinating. :-)
Gives you hope that spring is out there somewhere, doesn't it...
I like the way the sunlight glints among the shadow.
this is so poetically philosophical
Lovely photo. Looks like the kind of grapes that my grandmother used to grow in South Carolina. MMmmmm
it looks like it's growing a christmas bauble....
Nice! Very sharp.
The fruit looks like lime. ;p
I'm sure everyone in Raleigh is watching it too...looking for a sign that spring is near!
Nice lines on a soft blue background.

That's a beautiful shot. I love the color contrast.
That is so neat ... almost looks as if its metal .. metallic ... shiny
One lone little um...seed pod? :)
Was it actually a fruit? It looks like you superglued a lime to the end of the branch!
Happy WW!
