Monochrome Monday #19: Rail Switch
I'm not actually sure what this mechanism is, but considering where I found it (in an abandoned rail siding) I assume it's a switching mechanism. I don't know when it was actually installed, but the patent date cast in the housing is June 21, 1904. I'd call that staying power.

That was what I thougth first, part of the rails, but I don't know what it is.
Beautiful "old stil" document.
I have no idea what it was used for, but it is beautiful. Really like the tones in the image.
Or how to make a perfect B&W picture of a curious find. Now, we're wondering what kind of stuff it is. 105 years old, an antique !
I don't see any grease so I suppose it out of use entirely - yet now it is famous.
Look at all that great rust! Really terrific shot, GREAT depth of field. Really brings out the texture.
impressive! I really like the shadows and hilights.
Makes an excellent subject the texture makes it really stand out .
I like that shot a lot. There is something very appealing about it, functional (at least at some point) but also an interesting photographic object.
It does make you wander about the durability objects built now. Interesting to see the almost macro world in monochrome here.
Very good in black and white and I bet nice in color also.
Yup. Staying power. Exactly what we need in our train equipment!
Very interesting with the holes in the shaft.
Sharp!
good catch! well captured!
I love abstract things like this. Great lighting and detail!

I like the clean. clear lines in this photo, Mojo.
Good capture! Very nice mono. I love the lighting and the subject.
What ever it is, it makes a good mono...
Verrry interesting (in the voice of Arte Johnson)
Excellent! Totally clear, and the shapes are great.
I like it, anything railroad is good in my books. :)
I loved this picture. I would have loved it even without explanation, because it leaves room for your imagination.
