Ruby Tuesday #26: Indian Dancer

"Indian Dancer"
Raleigh, NC - November 2008 (Click to embiggen)

Ruby Tuesday - Are you red-dy? Hosted at

This is another event I've featured in these pages before, but I have a host of colorful photographs from it that I can draw on when the theme is suitable. This young lady was one of the dancers at the 13th Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration held in downtown Raleigh in November of 2008. My only regret about that event is that I didn't get there earlier, and missed a majority of the performances -- including hers. But at the end, they brought all the dancers out for a curtain call and I was able to get off a few shots of people I'd missed.Violence Unsilenced

It isn't one thing or the other. It is everything, the performance and the costuming working in perfect harmony for a stunning show. And she put on an excellent performance, I am sure...

Often we watch parades and all, enjoying their performance. Not too often, we take note of how beautiful their costumes are. Viewing the pictures after the performance will we then realize, "Wow! Their costumes are beautiful!".
Happy Ruby Tuesday :)

What a great shot of the little dancer. She sure is colorful.

I prefer to think she is contemplative rather than sad or only sad that the performances had ended.
Wonderfully colored native dress.

The dancer has a wonderful, colorful outfit.
She also has this totally devoted expression. Not of this world.
Beautiful.

Beautiful picture.

She's so beautiful in her bright costume and you managed to catch a facial expression that is all at once peaceful and determined.

I'm now going back to the picture to take in all the glorious color.

I saw a Native American dancer at Florida's Strawberry Festival last year - my friend thought he was a Seminole, but was not sure. I will have to dig around for photos and see if he was wearing any red!
