If you've ever taken Amtrak out of Raleigh, then you understand the title. I don't know about the rest of the country, but the last time I took a train within the state I could have rented a car, driven there and back for the same money.
This is not the way to rule the transportation world.
I've always wanted to travel by train, rather than fly or drive from the Florida, and now Georgia, to New England. I've gotten prices several times and it's always been higher than flying!
One day, I hope to take a scenic train ride across the country... you know, when I hit the lottery or something.
Travel travel is not cheap and its slow .. one of the last trips North my parents took was via train because of Dad's heart issues ... the train arrived in Deerfield Be, FL already running late and with every stop it got further and further behind schedule .. and Mom informed us the first class sleeper coach compartment that my sister got them for over $700 was like 'sleeping in a coffin' .. so they flew home ...
I didn't play RT (my office is my kitchen table) or WW (it's Tuesday)..but am stopping by..I wanted to say that you are the number 1 ambassador for photography and one of the few 'good' photographers who lets the rest of us feel good about what we do..Thank you...Michelle..
I love this photograph. Life used to be about waiting, and I think we all expect instant gratification. This reminds me of a gentler era, one which passed before my time.

I understand the Amtrak woe... it is the sam ein CA but for us non-drivers it is a good thing anyway :)
I appreciate your critique on my photos. Dont be shy and let me know what you think, okay?
Where's the train ... ?
I like this shot. I love the curves of the tracks.
But beautiful scenery along the way! :)
Maybe Amtrak should hire you to take promotional shots -- that photo makes me want to follow the tracks, even if it is expensive. ;)
I like this. I don't know why I like photos of train tracks but I do.
:-)
That looks so much like Hungary.
Lovely b&w shot!
Happy WT :)

Train travel isn't cheap here in the UK either. Working in central London, I have no real choice but to us public transport. Great shot!
