Blue Monday #24: Mountain Lake
If you happen to get tired of the beaches (I've heard that can happen), you can always visit the mountains. From where I live the beach is 2 or 3 hours in one direction and the mountains are maybe 4 hours in the other. This is Price Lake, part of the Julian Price Memorial Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Boone and Blowing Rock, NC. And trust me, the day I took this shot, you did not want to be in that water.

Lakes generally tend to be colder than the sea, don't they? It's funny how different it is, the taste and smell, compared to salty water. If I had to choose between one or the other, I'd for the sea for sure, but I don't mind a summer weekend by the lake in the Swedish forests!
That one looks deep and unforgivingly cold. Remind me I said that in August.
you're lucky to have so much water around. not so where i live.
Water is a popular subject for Blue Monday this week. I used it in mine too. The color of the water is beautiful.
Mojo, I never get tired of water! You always have wonderful photographs to share!
Happy Blue Monday...

I love to look at a lake. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.
OK, can I come visit?
That looks much nicer than here :)!
Always makes me think of Elvis .. and Hawaii ... lovely shimmer on the water ...
I'm 5 minutes from the beach but there is no mountain in Singapore. :(
There are rivers here, including the mighty Connecticut, which we have a rather nice view of from our front yard.
I love living so close to water: for scenic beauty, calm, recreation and conservation. Lakes tend to be small. And I'm almost exactly the same distance from both the ocean and the mountains (the real mountains like The Presidentials in N.H.) as you are.
What a blue the water is.
We just traveled this road last year. One of my favorites places to go!! For me, it's the mountains. It is instant tranquility.

beautiful shot! not me, I can never get tired of the beach. but this lake is beautiful. When I can't make it out to see the ocean, I head up to big bear lake. This shot reminded me of it. Your work is always so stunning.
This is a lovely photo and yes, the water looks very cold!
Happy Blue Monday!
xoxo
