Kay's Seven Deadly Challenges #4: "Sloth"
It's time for more sin, folks! Numero quatro on the Seven Deadlies List is one that should be easy for me: "Sloth". To the world at large it may not appear like it, but Sloth may even be a bigger vice of mine than Gluttony. When I was a kid, my dad used to tell me that if I put as much effort into doing the work as I put into avoiding it, I'd be done with whatever heinous task had been put before me and could do as I pleased. Of course in the adult world, it doesn't really work that way. Usually the reward for finishing ahead of schedule is more work. Which leads to more avoidance, and then to a backlog which I must then put on a burst of energy to catch up which leaves me feeling... beat... and slothful. This photo exemplifies this characteristic in a couple of ways. First of all, I think anyone would agree it's a pretty slothful looking pose. But more telling is that I shot it trying to get something for the "Hats" prompt for Photo Hunt. I wound up not using it, but kept it around for an occasion just like this one. And being too slothful to go find -- or shoot -- another one I recycled this one.I always close out these posts with a nod of encouragement to go visit the host/ess, but this week for this meme I want to put particular emphasis on that invitation. Kay set the bar pretty high for all us Mini-Memes this week, and there's no way I can do justice to her post here. You just need to read it for yourself. Some of you will identify with it, others won't. But I doubt there are very many who wouldn't applaud what she's done with the theme this week. So what are you waiting for? Go read!

Ha! That must be you "slothing". Very clever!
I am very guilty of sloth myself. And what you described sounds entirely like my patterns.
Now I have to think of a way to represent my greatest sin...
Here I was thinking gluttony was my worse point... now I'm wondering if it is equal to sloth? Hmmmmm....
BTW, I did go over and read the post at Perhaps We Learned Something. Thanks for sending me.
Slothful or laid back? This has real appeal and mystery. It sells sloth like no other image could!
your dad's wise. i must remember to tell that to the bean, heee heee heee. but yeah, i hear you, doesn't work when you're grown-up...
I never understood why sloth was a sin. Seems to me that much of the world would be better off if some of us did a lot less. Congress, for example.
No sloth about you. Totally hooked on nemes. I really like the image. It makes me think Freddie Kruger and Blues Musciain, which is quite an achievement from one shot.
Thinking about the 7 deadly sins is a bit unnerving. Kind of demands some introspection. But your photo looks too gentle and peaceful to represent sloth; to me anyway. :)
Love the photo - and the explanation behind it. I like your father's quote too. It's so true that we often put more effort into avoiding work than it would take to just do it. Or I do, anyway. Never do today what you can put off for as long as possible.
Sloths can't pout; it's physically impossible. They are destined to smile eternally.
