Watery Wednesday #20: Yates Mill Pond

"Muddy Water"
Raleigh, NC - December 2008 (Click to embiggen)

Watery Wednesday
In case you missed it: Check out my entry in Nicole B's Scavenger Hunt!

As still and clear as a mirror, I shot this in black and white because for whatever reason, the pond at Yates Mill was extraordinarily muddy the day I took this. Not wanting the rust colored tint I opted for monochrome which still allows you to see the near perfect calm of the water.Violence Unsilenced

Absolutely gorgeous. The reflection is perfect, and the railing adds a great sense of depth to the photo. Love this one.

A perfect choice to add the railing in front. And beautiful reflections in the water. Great shot!

It's beautiful this way. And kinda mysterious too.

Mirror image, indeed! Beautiful place too!

So, you say the water was muddy instead of the right blue? (Couldn't resist...) Really, though, I shall have to remember that trick of shooting B&W when the color's not right. Thanks for the tip -- and for a very pretty image.

Smooth as glass.

Reflection and railing are great, but my favorite part of this photo is the trees. Most of them are bare, which automatically makes you think winter. A few here and there have their leaves, which gives an interesting break in the color and pattern.

Beautiful choice! Mud would definitely spoil the view. Now it looks crystal clear and serene :).

Nice reflections. Would love to see the brown/rusty version, if you've got it.
