Sepia Scenes #32: English Garden

"If Walls Could Talk"
Beaufort, NC - November 2003 (Click to embiggen)

Sepia Scenes - Brought to you by Mary the Teach

This house has been featured in these virtual pages before, but it's one of my favorites so I wanted to see how it would look in sepia. During the spring and summer, this walled garden is a riot of color meticulously maintained and glorious to behold. This photo, unfortunately, was taken in November when the colors were not so riotous or glorious. All the same, the care lavished on the property is obvious.Violence UnSilenced

It really is a very elegant looking home and property - well suited to sepia! What is that fenced area on the roof? Does it have a name/function other than architectural interest?

My Sepia Scenes for this week is Lilac Time

I think that home was featured in the homes tour one year.

This is such an estate, looking like my sense of what an English manor looks like. The sepia gives us a stately look at how the 'other side' lives in style!

Looks like it belongs in New England with its Widows Walk ... and the sepia flatters its facade .. but I dont see an English Garden .. maybe its behind those flowering trees .. I know I am such a cojones busta...

Look at the balance of this photo - two walls, two gates (one not visible) two shrubs, and more, balanced windows, columns, and two chimneys. I'm guessing the interior flows as elegantly as the exterior.

I can see why it's your favorite. I love the rounded edges of the stone walls.
