Blue Monday #39: "Birds In The Back Yard IV"

"Black & Blue"
Raleigh, NC - February 2009 (Click to embiggen)

I don't ever remember seeing any solid black birds around my house other than crows before, but this is no crow. He doesn't look much like one, and he certainly didn't sound like one. So I don't know what he is. Maybe one of our orinthologically enlightened brethren will stop by and tell us. Whatever he is, he photographs well against a blue sky!Violence Unsilenced

You are right, the bird looks beautiful against the blue sky. I cant identify what kind of bird it is but it is a beautiful bird.

Your photo is a super shot, but since you cannot see details of the bird, it is hard to tell what kind it is.

I suppose that with that blue sky, any bird or bare tree branch is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

I think it's a blackbird :)

Regardless, it made for a great photo against the vivid blue sky!

Very graphic shot...I like it! The Black and Blue together are electrifying!

What did the bird sound like?

He looks a lot like a Grackle. The yellow eye and such - they are pretty neat to listen to. :)

Hi
Happy Blue Monday.
Wonderful photo.
I am not sure but it looks a little bit like it is an Oriole ?
They usually have a little hidden stripe of red or yellow underneath
their wings.
Anyway ,great picture today.
Thank you for sharing.
Happy Trails.

He looks as confused as the rest of us. All he needs is a giant question mark floating above his head.
