Thematic Photographic 52: "Dusk" v.5.0
The monster boom crane that dominates this scene also debuted here recently in the most recent Thursday Challenge. You can't really tell it from this shot, but the beam on this monolith spans an nearly entire city block. Which is to say that in a 180 degree swing it can pick something up and deposit it a block away. It's currently set up and operating in the lot across the corner from my office, and I got to watch -- in increments -- some of the process as it was assembled. (Actually in this shot, the beam is still not fully assembled yet.) Unfortunately I hadn't taken the camera to work that day and my cell phone simply wasn't up to the task of documenting the job. But trust me, it was fascinating.

Cool picture!
i don't like those things. they depict building and re-routes and changes in landscapes... well, that's my association anyway...
It is amazing how huge they are!

I can practically feel this thing looming over me. Great capture of the perspective...I bet you'll have a good time with the worksite as the building rises from the ground.
