Thematic Photographic 53: "Road" v.1.0
This week Thematic Photogrpahic takes to the road, the highway, the street, the lane, the... you get the idea. As usual, you can interpret the theme any way you like. For my opener this week though, I opted for the very literal approach. The Blue Ridge Parkway has long stretches of road with no guardrails, which is more than a little unnerving -- especially if you're on the passenger side of the vehicle. The tradeoff is that the Parkway also features some of the most breathtaking views in the state. And apparently I thought this bend in the road fit the criteria since I obviously couldn't resist shooting it. Here the guardrail was naturally occurring, but just ahead?

I love the Blue Ridge Parkway for a while. My son lives in Virginia in Waynesboro where the Blue Ridge meets Skyline Drive. It is absolutely gorgeous there. I really like viewing the mountains from down below, but I never get tired of looking at them.
Natural selection. :) You are too funnY!
Awesome shot!
B&W, on the road..
I can almost feel me sitting in the car driving with you..
Listen to great songs.
I'm really glad to hear that there are more folks shooting from inside of the car.. then me!
It is fun :)
I joined Thematic Photografic today :)
Have a great day!
Before I go - voting must be done :)
Would you believe that in 2 years of living here, I have not yet driven Skyline Drive or the Blue Ridge Parkway?
I know, it's a crime!!
"Almost Heaven......"
I love this photo Mojo!
"Life is old there, older than the trees,
younger than the mountains
blowing like a breeze.....
Country roads....take me home....to a place I beeeee-loong!"
Love this shot Mojo. Years ago we used to drive to Florida for March Break vacation with the kids...I'm sure this area was on our route. I always thought it was such pretty country.
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor. The textured contrast is remarkable: it almost leaps off the screen and pulls you in. I can almost feel the motion of the car.
I tell ya, folks don't seem appreciate a good road as much as they used to. Pity...I challenge anyone driving this stretch to do so without a smile.
Great shot! I love it in black & white too :) We have quite a few roads like that where there really should be a guardrail due to the excessive drop to one side!
What a beautiful shot! So glad I stopped by to see it. I participated in Thematic, Photographic this week too. Stop by if you can... http://tinyurl.com/love2btp
Great shot!! The roads are a little smaller where I come from. dennis
