Thematic Photographic 53: "Road" v.6.0

"Because you have to be crazy to drive here..."
Boston, MA Hartford, CT - August, 2005 (Click to embiggen)

Thematic Photographic hosted by Carmi - Button Image by Smarmoofus Hosted by Written Inc.

According to my records, this interchange is in Boston, MA* and frankly I can't think of a more appropriate name for a street in Boston than "Asylum Street", so I'm not at all surprised. If you have never tried driving in this city, I can only say don't. Just don't. Nothing -- not even a career in Demolition Derby -- can prepare you for the unbridled carnage that awaits the unwary traveller who attempts to navigate the streets of Boston in a car. Turn back now! Before it's too late!

*Since this post originally published, I've learned that this overpass is actually in Hartford, CT not Boston as I originally thought. But according to my sources, the name still fits.

And even crazier than being a driver here is being a pedestrian! I've lived here for over fifteen years and still think it's crazy - and I grew up in New York city. Drivers in NY are in a hurry, drivers in Boston are actually out to get you!

Wish I had read your Boston driving review BEFORE we attempted it! Now hubs will never go back!

Actually - Asylum Street is in Hartford, CT. Their traffic sucks during rush hour which is probably how you were able to get that photo - just sitting on I84 waiting for the cars to move. You were probably on your way to Boston.

Boston is to be driven around. It just ain't right. Hartford has an Asylum Street, perhaps for the same reason. Traffic in that little New England village is nusto, too.

Ha! I grew up driving in Boston. Didn't know any better. Whenever we went back for a visit, my husband would make me drive. Looks like it's south of Govt. Center, near South Station. But I'm just guessing. I haven't been back in a while.
