Thematic Photographic 54: "Green" v.5.0

"Who knew that was there?"
Raleigh, NC - April, 2009 (Click to embiggen)

One of the nice things about Raleigh is that the city has managed to presevre some of the green among the concrete and steel. Capitol Square is probably the most notable expanse with oak trees that probably date back to the antebellum era -- if not before. Moore Square and Nash Square are slightly smaller, but protected from development. And oak trees line many of the downtown streets even in the heart of the city. But even where hte green space isn't so grand -- or even noticeable -- you'll find it. And in some of the oddest places too. Like here, outside the service entrace of the Department of Administration building.

This is a cool shot! I lived in Minneapolis for a few years, and was quite surprised by the number of green things still growing there as well . . .
