Don't You Wish You Were Me Right Now? Part II
Day 2:The Rains of Doom that gave me such dramatic skyscapes yesterday left behind a problem to deal with this morning. The humidity here in North Carolina is legendary on the best of days, but with all the additional water that was added to the mix yesterday, by this morning the saturation level had crossed the line from legendary to mythic. I'd discovered an access road leading to a boat ramp on the Intracoastal Waterway last night and decided then and there that this would be where I would be found at first light. And after talking to another photographer I ran into on the beach last evening, I learned that nobody was going to complain if I hiked up to the top of the high rise bridge that leads from the mainland to the island. (On some of these bridges pedestrian traffic is sternly frowned upon, but I suppose the constabulary of North Topsail Beach doesn't mind if you choose to risk life and limb for "the" shot.)Enter the now-mythic humidity which fogged every piece of glass that came into contact with it. Lenses, filters, viewfinder... trying to keep them all clean was like juggling bowling balls. I'd remarked to myself last night (yes, out loud) that it would make a really cool shot if there were a mist around the dock used for boat launching. There wasn't (though I don't know why not) but it really didn't matter. I brought my own. Good thing I opted to wait on the shower until after the first foray into photoland this morning. By the time I'd loaded the camera bag into the truck I was already dripping. But once the sun cleared the horizon, I spotted this fella trying to round up some breakfast. Being orinthologically challenged, I'm not entirely sure exactly what flavor of avian he is, but if I were to guess I'd say he's a Blue Heron. (Any of you bird experts wanna check me on this?)

I'm not an expert when it comes to birds.
But I can tell when I see a stunning shot!!
Excellent capture!!! :)
It´s must been awesome being there.
It looks slightly like the herons we see here on the river. I think this is a gorgeous shot. I love the tone of the green and the rippling reflection. I love it.
