Nuttin Honey...

"Pardon Us While We're Remodeling"
Raleigh, NC - July 2009 (Click to embiggen)

Last Friday (17 July) we had one of those legendary "pop-up" thunderstorms in Raleigh that we get this time of year. The kind were out of nowhere the sky falls for 15 minutes to a half hour and then quits as suddenly as it started. These storms can be highly localized -- often there's nothing to speak of only a few miles away -- and as violent as they are brief. This particular one came loaded for bear with rain in sheets, wind gusts up to 40 knots and dime-sized hail. It also took out a large pecan tree in front of my office building, tearing out a power line which in turn set some of the landscaping on fire. (Yes, in a blinding rainstorm, there was fire.) It also heavily damaged some of the Black Walnut trees on the other end of the block. The photo above shows what the arborists encountered when they were cutting off one of the damaged limbs. The slideshow below gives a bit more detail -- and if you want to see the "full-sized" slideshow, there's a link to that as well.
for a full sized slideshow presentation (that you can slow down!).

You are brave photoing these angry little bees.... for me they always seems angry and I do not want them to take "a bite" of me.

But I´m glad you caught them - its very fun and interesting tosee their home from the inside.

Yea. This picture just scares me. I don't like bugs that fly.
Which is pretty much the majority of them. ;)

You are brave Mojo!

What if they have come after you? ;)
You know that I like these shots!!

And I hope both the tree and all the bees will survive.
