This subject was so odd it took me a while to figure out what it even was. Finally I figured out that it was part of a beehive. How it wound up in a junkyard on a sod farm I haven't figured out yet.

I really like this photo Jazz and especially because I like old boxes. I take it the bee occupants are gone away, yes? Are the boxes sitting atop a dead car?
Not exactly a dead "car" that was a discarded camper shell from a pickup truck. The junkyard in question was on a sod farm, and the "residents" were mainly old farm equipment that I assume was being cannibalized for parts.
My BIL's father is a bee keeeper!! He put about 10 of these in our back yard for a while. The bees used to fly everywhere, but never attempted to sting us!!!
Bizarre as it may be, I can't stop thinking about the artful composition and lighting. This is a gorgeous still life in its own right: the oddness of the subject matter only makes it more compelling to watch.
