The sepia allows us to focus on the shape of the peak. The leaves could be the end of Autumn leaves that are brown and dry - so we don't see a leaf about to fall, or care about it. The old style stands out with no distractions...

The slats at the top wouldn't keep a whole lot of weather out would they. The modern lamp light is a real contrast to the old worn building. Nice shot.
