This is the way to fish if you're going to do it from shore. Here at the northernmost tip of Topsail Island you can actually drive right to the water's edge. There are a few places in the state where this is still allowed, but they're strictly controlled. And don't get the idea that just because you can it means that you should. The sand here is very deep and very loose and even an "All-Wheel Drive" vehicle can find itself stuck up to the axles. An old girlfriend and I had the opportunity to find this out at Carolina Beach back in 2002 when we got her Honda CRV hopelessly mired in the sand there. So even though my pickup has 4WD and fairly aggressive tires, I was very wary of how far I tried to venture out here. Because nothing could possibly be as embarrassing as getting your four-wheel drive pickup truck stuck in the sand.

man and i love fishing, maybe next time try a four wheeler,....oh yeah the date thing..never mind, what did you catch?
