Like a lot of people, I was confused by the sign outside the door. Like a lot of people, I read it as "The Gathering on Tate Street", which has vaguely occultish undertones. Or possibly other, less sinister (but more embarrassment inducing) undertones. Not so subtly subtitled "The G-Spot" (which leads the unfamiliar visitor down the completely wrong path), The Gathering is apparently another too-loud live music venue geared toward the college crowd (which is convenient since it's practically on the campus of the UNC-G School of Music). I found very little in the way of information about it on the web initially (until I got the name right), which surprised me, and my son (a senior at UNC-G) knew less about it than that. Which surprised me (a little) less actually, since his studies have steered him more in the direciton of classical and jazz. The one semi-opinion I did find was at a blog called A Museing (which is amusing, even if misspelled and here's your Technorati tag... you can thank me later) penned by a blogger named ChicKiddo. She calls it "...a rather trashy and hedonistic college experience. I'm not entirely sure I'm interested in finding out just what that means." Hmm... I think I'm with ya on this one Chic (although until you got to the "college" part I was doing fine. 'Tis a young man's world I tell ya.) Come to think of it, if her assessment is correct perhaps the "g-spot" moniker isn't so far off the mark after all. Maybe the guys from Greensboro Daily Photo will weigh in on this one.

nothing like a controversial confusing misleading name to find your niche...
You had me at "trashy and hedonistic!"
Too funny. I'd have to find out from curiousity.
"Trashy and hedonistic"..
I just have to find out too! ;)
Everything can happen in Greensboro, right? :P
A sign of the times
Well, you must tell them they have a nice sign! :-)
Now send my regards to Tonka!
Greetings,
Sheba (& her human!)
Fortunately, I'm too old for that scene and my son is long out of college. But it's a great shot of the sign!
Neat photo!
...Ruby door is the perfect background for...
Yes, the sign is nice but I think I, too, am too old to be interested in venturing beyond.
It is an interesting sign, promoting curiosity... rather funny! Very nice.
Oh, yes! my curiosity grabbed me right away! Fun post, Mojo!
Have a great week!
Sylvia
typical me, I read it as the gathering spot, never thinking anything other than it being a spot to gather at, like a coffee shop or something-it's true!
