One Single Impression - "Wings"

I suppose this is really two single impressions, but I hope that's okay. The prompt instantly reminded me of something I wrote several years ago. It also had a more immediate impact that inspired something a little less obvious. To most people anyway.

Wings (I)
If I be but a fool
Emboldened by passion
And like Icarus
I fly too near the sun
Then burn the wax from my wings
Dash my bones upon the rocks
Only first I beg you,
Let me see the sweetness of her gaze
Feel the tenderness of her kiss
And know that if but for a moment
She cared for me.

Wings (II)
Outside the window
Rain comes and asks who is moth
And who is the flame?

The tenderness of the first one goes straight to this girl's heart.

The second one has me wondering what it's like to be the rain, just beyond the heat of the flame.

And then I do that bobblehead thing.

I agree that the first one is incredibly romantic...wow. If you read that to any woman, her knees would grow weak. And the second one had an ache to it that was very touching. Beautiful poems!

I agree with the others..

You could melt any womans heart with the first poem, but I also feel loss and at the same time relief.

Beautiful poem! Every single sentence.

To hope that a special person cares for us. From dream to reality makes us whole. I can relate to your first poem. I also thought about Icarus with this prompt.
