One Single Impression: Indurated

Indurated
The castle walls stood for ages
A lifetime or more it seems
Impenetrable, unyielding stones
Fused together by fear and loathing
Lofty addresses from the tower
All I could offer

My fortress, my prison
Kept me safe I thought
There were attempts, to be sure
I learned from them
Strengthened and fortified the weak points
Thicker and higher
Secure

Until that day you stood at the easement
Armed with only a smile, a kind word
Making no attempt to breach the bulwark.
As if you knew
One door remained locked,
But not yet sealed shut.

Without intent, without objective
You brought the drawbridge down
My defenses, broached,
Were never more secure.

  3. Bravo - for such fine writing.. You made me read, once, twice.. and I'll be back for more! I could "visualize" what you composed.. The sense, of being locked in inside our respective fortresses, apparantly safe, yet blissfully unaware of the malign scapes. Till its too late. But then along comes that smile, a blessing.. without intent, without conviction, even. And they shatter those mammoth walls with such ease.

  4. Touching!

We do have to come to such terms with our relationships, by giving in to our heart's desires!

  6. It is amazing how we build and create walls to protect us and how simply they can come down in the arms of love. Your poem was a visual journey down this path.
