One Single Impression: Sunny Days

Sunny Days
Grim, gray, the colors of the world are muted
As the cold gathers 'round my bones
And the old familiar aches
Reclaim the joints between them
"You belong to us", they tell me,
"We are inseparable".

But I know something they don't know.
I know soon they will retreat
Lay in wait for another such day
When their luck will be better.
I know that this morning
The sun will slip through the bars of its turbid prison

I know that this morning
A smile no less heavenly will warm me from within
I know that this old man's pains
Will decamp in that hour when love blossoms
Breaking the crust of an age of dormancy
On this, my sunniest, most glorious day.

Decamp, pains. Be gone. Be well, you. And happy. Always.

Inspiring poem recognising that the real sun of light and warmth needs to come from within!

Pablo Casals began every day by warming up his fingers on the keyboard with Bach. The stiffness evaporated.

"But I know something they don't know.
I know soon they will retreat"
