Thematic Photographic 54: "Green" v.2.0

"When Roadsters Were Roadsters"

Some of you may be old enough to remember the old commercials for one of the Triumph models (probably the Spitfire, possibly the TR-6 I can't remember) where the car in question was billed as coming "from the land of British Racing Green". Apparently in international motorsports, green was the color assigned to cars form the UK or something. That might help to explain the wretched reliability of most the street cars produced by British Leyland during that period. Green is supposedly considered the unluckiest of any possible color to paint a race car by race drivers. This 1952 MG TD predates those television commercials by a number of years, but the color's right anyway.

That would indeed be fun to drive to work in...would make the routine less tedious indeed.
