More Things That Make You Go... WTF??

This banner ad turned up in that space my ISP reserves for such things in their web-based mail client.

Buy Giant Sports Balls
Sportogo, Inc offers that great gift item for the sports fan in your family.
http://www.sportogo.com/

Now who could possibly resist looking at Giant Sports Balls? I know I couldn't. So I clicked the ad and sure enough, first item on the page is Giant Sports Balls.
Turns out these are actually giant balloons tricke out to look like golf balls, basketballs, soccer balls, all kinds of balls. But scrolling down their product list I found this:

FIRST Robot Balls (& Parts)

Allll-rightythen. I wasn't aware that robots had become anatomically correct, but apparently I was mistaken. But "parts"?? This I had to see.

Displaying products 1 - 6 of 6 results
FIRST Robot Ball (Okay, this I expected)
Robot Ball (2-Pack) (You'd also expect them to come in pairs)
Robot Ball Replacment Bladder ("replacement... what"??)
Robot Ball Replacement Bladder (6-Pack) (apparently these get damaged a lot.)
Robot Ball Replacement Cover (and this is, what? a robot scrotum?)
Robot Ball Replacement Cover (2 Pack) (no, this is a robot scrotum)
I never did figure out what these are actually supposed to be, but I'm guessing they weren't leftovers from the set of Transformers. (Or maybe they were. Ya never know I guess.)

Speaking of Robots

I really didn't want to talk about robots, I wanted to talk about a new web-comic I found recently.
But they say you should always tie things together and it seems there's this search engine called OhNoRobot.com that specializes in searching nothing but web-comics.

Speaking of web-comics, here's one you should definitely check out: xkcd.com. It may be a little bit "geeky" for some tastes, but I thought it was hysterical. Who knew engineers had a sense of humor?

Feeling Way Too Damn ... Hot!

Since everybody else around here is doing it, I'll take my turn. Damn it's hot!

(Wanna know how hot? Check out this entry from my friend JC or this one from her friend Tiff.)

I'm Afraid Of Britney Spears

Finally, from the "maybe-there's-hope-for-the-future-after-all" desk: Some of you may have missed this release from a girl-band called "LiveonRelease". Seeing Red at Amazon.com
It's not exactly new, but it's unique in a couple of ways. First, it was put out by a group of girls who at the time would have been squarely in the middle of the Brintey Separs target demographic. And second, it's often attributed by the uninformed to Bif Naked. Ms. Naked didn't record the song, but it was this song that got her attention and prompted her to sign the band to her own label, Her Royal Majesty Records.
While the song isn't exactly awe-inspiring from a musical perspective, it does represent a refreshing break from the usual Barbie Pop fare.
I find hope in seeing such an effort from a group of girls who had to cut their first tour short because they had to get back to school. Who knows that it won't start a trend?
You can hear a sample here.

I'm Afraid Of Britney Spears
LiveonRelease - Seeing Red - Her Royal Majesty Records, 2001

I only just turned 15
I'm filled with hopes and dreams
I turn my radio on and
I hear the strangest song

I'm afraid of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
Backstreet Boys and N'sync I don't know what to think
Ahoo Ahoo Ahoo Ahoo

It's slick the way they dress
I heard they all have fake breasts
One thing I'll do if I can
Is go on Britney's bus and get a tan
They dance like they need a cure
Let's get the number of their choreographer
There so worried bout what we'll think
They took the time to learn to lip sync
Milli Vanilli Milli Vanilli Milli Vanilli Milli Vanilli

I'm afraid of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
