Thematic Photographic 12: Colorful v.3.0
Continuing on my way to BTS '08, I found a few other shots that fit the "Colorful" theme. Hey, this isn't so hard... I see these free publications everywhere, but who knew they had such colorful homes on the streets of downtown? In the second shot is the front of the Velvet Cloak Inn on Hillsboro Street, a few blocks removed from Sadlack's (featured in last week's Thematic Photographic). The Velvet Cloak has been in this location all my life and several years more. It's changed hands a few times, but none of the owners changed the name. It's another one of those hometown icons, a little worn around the edges, but still standing tall -- and colorful!I took the last shot in the Glenwood South district, which has become one of the trendier areas of downtown. When I was in high school -- about three blocks (and 30 years) from this spot, Glenwood Ave wasn't the name on everyone's lips when considering a night-out destination. These days you still don't want to drive down this stretch of Glenwood after dark, but it's for completely different reasons. If you're in town, put it on your list of places to visit. But park somewhere else.

The newsstand really is very colorful --- interesting "architecture" housing those freebies, too.
Those color 'free' booths are so Florescent ! And that house sure looks like in an 'Olympic' mood!
why do one visit Glenwood now?
Is Raleigh NC (if that's where you took the photos) a Stepford community or something? Cuz ain't no way those boxes would look clean anywhere I hang out.
I love the circulars boxes! Brilliant photo, Mojo! Ooh... PhotoMojo. You should call your blog that.
I'm coming back soon. Promise.
