Perspective is everything.

I'm stretching the theme a bit here, but I thought it relevant. Two views of the same scene. One a pleasing -- if perhaps illusory -- view from afar, another the not-so-pleasing view when you get up close enough to see the reality. It's a metaphor for many things I suppose -- including itself.

These are two of several shots I got along the waterfront in Cleveland when my son and I were making the "Great College Road Trip of 2005". We weren't actually visiting a college in Cleveland, but we had a day to kill, so we made a side trip to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Next morning, as we headed out of town we stopped so I could get this shot of a dock along Lake Erie.

After seeing Lake Erie up close and personal I decided it looks much better at a distance.

It reminds me of the river Hudson up close when I went cruising!

Hola Mojo,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I added some more watery pics today. I like the untraditional perspective of the water that you have capturd in these two shots.

I don't think you're stretching it at all. I'm learning to keep the themes deliberately broad to allow as much interpretation as possible.

I love the two perspectives. One makes me feel warm and fuzzy. The other kinda angry that we treat out waterways this way. And considering the fact that we occasionally take the kids to swim on the other side of Lake Erie, it's a very personal set of pictures, too.

If you're trying to lure lovers of detritus and oil spills to Lake Erie, you're doing a fine job....is that a hypodermic needle?

;)

I checked the high res version I have and didn't see any hypodermics... but I wonder how much the Fritos bag would fetch on eBay?
