Thematic Photograhic 15: "Closeup" v.1.0 - My Garage
I've been a complete slug this weekend and remiss in getting on board the Thematic Photographic theme for the week. It isn't that I don't already have a host of closeups in my archives, but I wanted something new. So while sweating out a few hours of 95 degree yard work yesterday I kept an eye open for possibilities. Turns out, I found several right in my garage. So for my opening volley in this week's theme I give you... My garage.Okay, the pun might be over the top, but there's a neat factoid about the first shot. It required no post processing other than scaling to size. None. Zip. Goose egg. I hadn't lugged my full-on strobe out for this shoot but I needed more that available light for this interior shot so I popped up the built in flash. That got me the shutter speed I needed, but the reflection blasted the image. So I grabbed an old parking pass from the console to bounce the flash and the colored paper of the ticket (kind of a dull orange) gave the shot its red cast. The shadow of the steering wheel did the rest. The second shot is one of those shots that will mean much more to some people than others. As I was shooting the tach shot above, this jumped out at me and reminded me of a story I heard from a dear friend. A story that's not really mine to tell, so I'll leave it at that.I suppose there's a story to the last shot too, but I don't really know what it is. It's just the tank gauge on my air compressor... made somewhat interesting by the use of spot color.

hi mojo,
'idle time' is a great shot. i liked how you improvised with the parking pass.
IF i had a camera I'd join in again - and once it is repaired i'll be visiting and sharing more often.
cheers,
